January 22, 2024
Dear Tax Client,
Welcome to a new year and a new tax season! As usual, there are changes in the evergrowing tax law but I am here to help!
You may have received some tax forms already and are looking to file ASAP, but don't panic, currently the IRS electronic filing system is closed. Every year, the IRS shuts down in November and reopens sometime at the end of January or start of February while they do their pre-season maintenance. This year, the IRS will reopen the individual filing system on January 29th. Regardless, I don't recommend filing until after January 31st, until after all of your tax documents are provided to you; forms W2, 1099, 1098, and/or 1095. Don't fall for the tax rush advertised on the radio or the streets; filing before the efile system opens will not give you a faster refund but may delay it or result in tax complications.
You may be wondering what my schedule looks like and when I will be back in Arizona. This year, I will be working in a similar fashion as last year; remote work (online only) in February and in-person (Casa Grande home-office) in March. To request an online or in-person tax service, please visit my website and click "Request Tax Service". To keep your documents organized and secured, I have added an "Upload Documents" button to my website. Please do not send me any documents through email or they may go unseen (my email gets flooded with messages during this time of the year).
From now until the end of January I may be slow to respond to text, email, or phone messages. Sorry about that! This is the time when I must take care of tons of administrative work, finish up professional continuing education credits, complete home repairs, run maintenance and replace office equipment, and spend time with the family before planning my return to Arizona.
You may be wondering how much it will be to prepare your taxes. This year, I will have a similar fee schedule as last year with a minimum fee of $249.99. I will be offering discounts so check out my website around the 31st, that's when I will be finished with my fee schedule updates. As usual, your final prep fee will depend on the forms you've received and the forms I prepare.
If you have any questions, feel free to email, text, or call and I will respond as soon as possible (promise!). If you already left me a message (email/text/voice), I will reply later today (Monday, January 22nd) as I am now back online and checking my messages.
Thank you and I hope to see you soon!
